Shattered And Alone Poem by Nicole GravellPellerino

Shattered And Alone

Rating: 4.0

your words are jumbled and slurred
your eyes are blood shot red and vision your vision is blurred
in the fridge you reach for more beers
my hear breaks and down come the tears

You can't function without it at all
and sober days you can not recall
broken and violent home is all we've ever known
leaving us shattered and alone

Squandering away the precious years
spending all your time with liquor and long neck beers
you threw it all away
couldn't even be sober for my wedding day

Now I'm all grown and it's too late.
You've made your choices and choose your own fate
the damage is done, and you opted not to stay
you'll never regain the lost day

Although I am learning to forgive and let go
and the process is painfully slow
I still wish not to have you in my life
you have caused to much pain and strife
