Shameful Prayer Poem by Sarrah Ibrahim

Shameful Prayer

Rating: 5.0

I suck.
I have enough pencil cases for the rest of the world,
Notepads to cover the face of the Earth,
Pens for each and every finger and toe,
Yet..
No amount of tipp-ex or rubber will ever be sufficient to erase my mistakes,
Dear father, sorry for the waste of energy, money and space,
Wish I could make you proud, mother.
Yes, it pains me.
But your love is unlimited,
For that.. I love you so,
I'm not worried about that,
Just ashamed.

What's terrifying is simply this:
'Will I ever be able to forgive myself?
Could you ever- at sometime down the road, dear me? '
I hear laughing in my head.

79.6%,
Second chance blown,
It physically pains me,

Give me the strength for acceptance,
Brush off this fear,
Point out the map,
To find myself,
Stand tall,
Stop my legs from shaking,
Forgive. Forgive. Forgive.
Believe in myself,
In tomorrow, in success, in destiny..
Faith in me,
Pure faith.
Help me convert this anger, shame and hate
To motivation, courage and hopefulness,
Thank you for everything,
Forgive me for everything.

I can understand the frustration of missing narrowly an A It is however a crazy race, Sarah. All of us want to be the best, have the top grades, nothing else than As. And then... And then we grow up. Nobody is talking about As anymore. Study hard, Sarah, make your dreams come true, and always remember for many students a B is a fantastic result. Everthing is relative. Enjoy the other As and accept a few B.s Life is too nice to fret over one B Look at the morning skies, at the beauty of a flower and you will know that our Creator loves independently of our scores
