Shadows Poem by Richard Anders

Shadows

Shadows on the ceiling
Shadows on the wall
Shadows on the curtains
Shadows over all.

Flickering shadows by candelight
Dancing by my door
Leaping, jumping, falling
Ever quiet on the floor.

I lie awake at night-time
Afraid to go to sleep
In case I miss the shadows
As o`er my bed they leap.

I sometimes wish they`d speak to me
What stories they could tell
Of babbling brooks and raucous rooks
Along the Dingley Dell.

Where do they go when day breaks
I`m sure they do not sleep
And if I found out ever
Their Secret I would keep.

Shadows on the ceiling
Shadows on the wall
Shadows on the curtains
Shadows over all.
