In the dark, lying awake and
Gazing upon the mighty shadows
That loom over me as they
Happily float in the air
In random motions like a dream

In the stillness of the night
I watched them display
Spellbinding delirious colours
Of images and scenes
Stirring sweet emotions within

Suddenly, from the colours of
The paint spectrum of my mind
Memories came haunting me
Repeating yet renewing
As they enveloped my whole being

It took a while for me
To decipher these emerging shadows
Dancing freely from my searching mind
Memories leaped through my head
In sparkling flashes of another place and time

There I saw the two of us
Locked in an inseparable embrace
And like a book of an unforgotten romance
The past rose up from page to page
Unmindful of the darkness far beyond

As I cradled my pillow cozily
I was looking through the sweetness and
Wondrous beauty of the night
Bewildered at the richness of wild fantasies
Of this bright tomorrow

In the dark night of my soul
Lost in the enchantment of this vision
I lay awake in the essence of
A yesterday full of promises
Of love, happiness and hope

These lingering shadows
Left me with a pleasant longing
For a love that is near and yet so far
As my mind browsed over some
Treasured sanctuaries of bliss

So tonight I lie in bed smiling
Staring at these awesome scenes
And like many other nights of my life
I kiss the memories of the past
And relive them in this moment’s shadows...
