Deja Vu Poem by Phiona J. Pascual

Deja Vu

when i looked into your eyes
for the very first time
i found myself remembering
some unguarded moments
from some unbounded past...
suddenly i longed for
those romantic evenings
a thousand sunsets by the bay
some sentimental love songs
kept locked inside my heart...

you awakened in me
memories of timeless years
a love so pure, so true
with flames still burning deep within...
and when you smiled at me
the yearning grew much stronger
those secret whispers buried in
the deep recesses of our minds
seemed to cry out louder now
reaching out to be heard...

those tender loving kisses
within the comfort of your arms,
i have felt them all before
in another time and place
and yet, the feelings never changed...
it dawned on me so suddenly
i have known you all my life
the love we had before
still lives within our hearts...

and now,
as i look into your eyes
i know i'm looking through our past
all those distant dreams and wishes
are now just a heartbeat away...
seasons of our lives may come and go
but they can never erase
all the memories of
a love frozen in time
yours and mine...

as the melody of our love songs
enveloped the essence of
this enchanted evening,
you smiled and took my hand...
many unspoken words
remain untold
in the stillness of the night
yet the essence of the love
we have shared
in all our yesterdays
will forever linger on...

now love has finally came to rest
and found its home at last
nestled in the deepest core of our hearts
to live
to stay
to belong
until all the haunted moments
of all our yesterdays and tomorrows
tonight, shall become one...
