Savoring The Long Walk Home From Your House Poem by Justin Gildow

Savoring The Long Walk Home From Your House

You take my hands in yours
You lean in close to kiss me goodnight
And you whisper sweet things about us in my ear
These days it feels like we can soar
These days it seems everything for us is going right
From daylight to nighttime

I've walked you home
And it's time for me to take the long walk back to my home
But it's a long walk I'll savor

After saying farewell and goodnight to you
I'm on my way
And along the way
I'll enjoy savoring the long walk home from your house

From the sidewalks to the streets
There's always a person or thing for me to greet
The many night crawlers call out a greeting and well wishes to me
While I do the same thing back

Passing by the memorable statues
I respect you all in my memory
I send well wishes from me to you all up in Heaven
I hope you all receive them
Your memory here still resides within me

Walking through the park
I stop and sit for a few minutes by the fountain
And in the trees
All the nighttime creatures eyes gleam
But I know they won't hurt me

Standing up from my sitting position
I reach into my pocket and pull out a coin
Closing my eyes, I make a wish
Afterwards, I throw my coin into the fountain
Hoping for happiness and good luck

After all of my adventures and side trips
I cross the final streets
And walk the last sidewalk
I can hear an owl hoot from a distance near my house
I hope it's enjoying its night

I walk up the steps
And I'm finally home
On the steps, I take in the night on last time
Enjoying this night
While savoring all these wonderful memories that are now mine

a great sequel to ''l'll walk you home'....I love the fourth and third stanzas which allow you to dream and revel in your absolute happiness...the two poems go nicely hand in hand...great work.
