Rock The Discomfort Away Poem by Edwina Reizer

Rock The Discomfort Away

The rocking movement to and fro
brings me comfort in my chair.
It soothes the discomfort in my heart
that is so hard to bear.
It dulls my mind and overtakes
the thoughts that one by one
have not subsided all day long
and weigh on me like a ton.

Now as I rock my mind is numb,
unfeeling and unmoved.
The repeating of the motion
if nothing else has proved
that the troubles that are mine
can all be rolled into one.
So I must not stop this rocking
lest they weigh on me like a ton.
