Questions Of My Own Poem by Carol Nichols

Questions Of My Own

Rating: 5.0

Who am I if I'm not someone else's

What am I doing building other people's dreams

When did I become a reflection

Of everyone's opinion of me

Where did I hang my own happiness

How do I end a dependent mentality

What is it that I am capable of

In order to get my happy finality

Great work...These are questions we all ask ourselves, this is life, true and real...This is poetry.

Beautifully expressed. In a bid to devote for the benefit of others, you may tend to neglect yourself a bit. A fine balance is needed for overall welfare- inner as well as external. Thanks a lot.

I have been returning the favor of reading your poems since you read mine. I notice most of your pieces deal with personal angst and constant questioning of yourself. I relate to you in that aspect, keep up the good work

Compelling questions, and important to even begin this self examination, if we are to become as much as possible our own persons. Well-written and enjoyable to read and contemplate. Thank you for sharing this, and welcome to PH.
