Taking Away Her State Of Grace Poem by Carol Nichols

Taking Away Her State Of Grace

Rating: 3.0

She had eyes as blue as the ocean

On it's most clear and beautiful day

Then dark clouds covered the ocean

Changing her blue eyes into gray

She used to float on top of the water

With the sun warm on her face

But the wind and waves grew stronger

Taking away her state of grace

She used to swim with the joy of a child

Playfully over and under the waves

A look of terror replaced her smile

As the open sea became her grave

Thank you for your comment. I like how people see different meanings from reading the same poem, I love that about writing. It is actually about a girl who changed her view on the world because of what she has been through.

Oh! So painful a scenario! You could have written it for any body but brought the refugee crisis to my mind. Thanks for sharing.
