Prostitute, A Pity Poem by Rm. Shanmugam Chettiar

Prostitute, A Pity

A prostitute shall entertain clients
Without prejudice to their family ties.
She shall not choose but be chosen by them
And lend her body, holding back her heart.
She shall play an understanding mother
Or an innocent girl to suit her pair.
She shall fake a moan when he's at a peak
So that he goes home not as a failure.
She shall address him where his wife's wanting
And strip his shame to use her to his whim.
She shall take bath soon after the rituals,
And wash her sin and the dirt made by him.
Who will pay her after her menopause?
With no child, who will play a caretaker?
