Pride (I) Poem by Marcquiese Burrell

Pride (I)

Rating: 5.0

The pride that lies within, is a source of strength
Can be my biggest enemy but will never self-destruct
when a fool parts the lip it has no reign
to tilt me over
for the winds keep me afloat

The world is my throne
where I rule supreme
and like the sun, the universe centers around
this magnificent creation

The passion would breed
so intense the influence
ignites itself like a flame
the energy pumps through the veins
En route to the brain
wealth is the heart that beats with integrity
this instrument is a treasure made of gold
the pride that lies within, is a source of strength
for I rise above hate
that seeks to annihilate my core

It's rough in some parts but it has power within
