Please Do Not Tell Me To Have A Nice Day Poem by George Hunter

Please Do Not Tell Me To Have A Nice Day

Rating: 5.0

There was a young lady
From Frisco Bay
Who could never think of
Anything new to say.

She just kept repeating
Have a nice day,
Have a nice day,
Have a nice day.

I get so weary of hearing
That way of saying bye, bye
If I have to hear it once more
I think I shall die.

Why can’t you mix it up
And change your tune
You’re driving me halfway
Up to the moon.

To keep me from going
Completely insane
Try au revoir
Or auf Wiedershen.

Maybe just so long
Or see you later
Or that rhyming thing
About the gator.

Don’t even think about saying
Be seeing you, that’s worst
Because they’ll reply
Not if I see you first.

The life I’m living
Is very stressed
But it’s my right
To feel depressed.

So in the future when departing
I’m gonna say
Have a lousy day
Or have a bad day,
Or have a stinking day,
Or have a miserable day
Or have a horrible day,
Or maybe I’ll just say
Go the hell away
And leave me alone
To enjoy my pain
So much to lose
So little to gain.
