Phoenix Poem by Katherine Bryce

Phoenix

What does a phoenix do,
that is unlike a bird,
what does it do,
to be different?

A phoenix rises from ashes,
and so have I,
I guess I have a lot in common,
with this bird.

What beautiful creatures,
they truly are,
and in the dark,
they seem so strong.

But they look so shy,
and so meek,
but watch them soar,
high above the rest.

I hope one day,
I'll be like them,
soaring high above,
the weakest below.

I hope one day,
I'll be strong,
and one day,
rise from the ashes.
