Perfection Poem by Edwina Reizer

Perfection

Do not sit and wait for perfection
To come and sit by you.
For perfection is all around us.
It's there for you to view.

Shall we wait to see it in full bloom?
Or nurture it while it's young.
For a song that's slowly written
Is a song waiting to be sung.

There isn't a body that's perfectly made
And yet some see it so.
And the eyes that see it as perfect
Are the eyes that are aglow.

There is no halo over your head
And yet the good that you do
Is perfection in the eyes of God.
And so perfection is you.

There are too many woes that come to us,
Too many woes on earth.
It gives us the impression that perfection is gone
Ever since our birth.

And so some wait for perfection to return
When we leave this place.
But those that are wise can find it
In the smile of a human face.
