Pedestal Poem by Naomi Fraser

Pedestal

They put me on a pedestal
The air up here is chemical

A crown I don't deserve at all
Balance me so I don't fall
Why make torture quite so tall?

They put me on a pedestal

They put me on a pedestal
They surround and act all medical

A title I don't want at all
Waiting for my useless call
I'd rather them just watch me bawl

They put me on a pedestal

They put me on a pedestal
Their sympathy- inexplicable

A burden that became my pall
Their words like animals; they maul
I wish - my voice, from them - I could withdrawal

They put me on a pedestal
