Peacekeeping Forces Poem by Imelda Ortega Suzara

Peacekeeping Forces

Rating: 5.0

When wars have ended and we are friends with our enemies,
As governments and armies in war and peace pretended
That bombs and guns would solve problems while mouthing blasphemies.
Cities were destroyed, funerals citizens attended.

The world wars recur after foreign cities are rebuilt.
Revenge is greater after enemies achieve success.
Murdering enemies, we are criminals without guilt
No judge nor jury in an extra-judicial process.

Peace feels just like acting in a public stage performance:
Death of enemies can almost be like a comedy;
Passion in angry hate can kill any loving romance;
Imprisonment in their cages becomes the tragedy.

Hate and love our enemies during the intermission.
As peacekeeping forces, we are to fulfill our mission.

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
This poem is about how wars repeat because of ongoing enmity between groups who never really reconcile and agree and simply continue between peace and war modes.

Really an insightful creation elegantly brought forth in Shakespearean rhythmic splendour. A beautiful creation. Thanks for sharing Imelda.
