Gateway For Infidels Poem by Imelda Ortega Suzara

Gateway For Infidels

The army was led by an obstinate
General who controlled the labyrinth.
For security, he did designate
A gatekeeper to question in succinct
Tone those who entered and left. Desperate
Women enamoured in humiliation,
Begged entry to mate, but he would berate
Them. 'Why persist in such affiliation
With brutes who shall bring you only disgrace?
Are there no other men who subjugate
Women without falling from God's grace? '
Women swooned waiting outside the locked gate.
They longed to bewitch men to leave and tempt
Them to mate, despite their leader's contempt.
