Pay A Fee Poem by Marcquiese Burrell

Pay A Fee

Told me I'd be nothing, you've seen something
and it gave me purpose in the end
History has taught me to revisit it again
cause the truth is often twisted
When the script is used to only benefit
those who don't think you have the means
to fully investigate and prove a case
when light is shed on darkness there's no place
the guilty can run
the chase always end in getting caught

there's a special case building on you
you going to have to pay a fee
you'll soon know when the balance is near do

pulled the plug on this thing cause there's nothing here to gain
Found out you didn't love me as you would try and claim
Cheat me one too many times and it's quite a shame
Gambled with my heart by playing the numbers game

Hopelessly, I spent many nights devoting time to you
when you would come home, every need was met
where you could relax from a long day and forget
all that you've despaired
Stuck here through the thick of it
Didn't once throw a fit
Real love
Is so hard to come by
Time will have you realize
