Ode To Beauty Ever Eluding Poem by Tonimario Onyedika Oboshi

Ode To Beauty Ever Eluding

Thou ever betraying universal
Constantly holding the bravest her vassals
Created secure, untiring Beauty
Always beholden with lost sense of duty
Treacherous wanderer, dignity’s deceiver
Stealing moments and conjuring pleasure bars

Entirely wholesome, teaching but learning not
For all generation submits to be marked by her
And many betaking the lesson as much not
As they would when degeneration onward saunters
Teaching us to then relish every moment
Without punishing this true dissent

Undying Beauty, great altar of creation
From your scope was the making of all nations
For they all please the eye in the presence of order
And never slightly shaken in the wind of slaughter
Which arises in the battle of sovereignty, all claiming
That their being is better that the rest of beings they are taming
