The Lost String Of My Heart Poem by Tonimario Onyedika Oboshi

The Lost String Of My Heart

Come hither dearest brother
For the pains strike me harder
It’s death, I’m sure; but only a string can save
Long lost but much thought, only short time to save

My heart blows, it leaks for it can’t lonely stand up
‘Cos it’s stolen and smashed, though well picked up
Where then is this string which cant yet be worn
It’s lost, I know but my heart can’t stand as one

You call it gibberish but that string pulls and counts
Not death, but love which was kicked in the pants
Sit and listen for close is death borne ‘ere
But this string pulls me hither, daring the calls of there

Lapsing, I see her, the flame comes against my knack
Can’t I die without this string, the angels drive me back
“Get the string and die or get strung and live, they say
For you can’t see God without complete tunes” they say

For more than nine, the months counted
Great changes in me effected
On the tenth month, I came too bad, its over
“State my crime “ I wailed in sorrowful tone lower
Dejected, I went home, what can a poor boy do
Yet for two years, that string still march on no

Sleeping, I see but that always end in dream
Slowly waking, I see myself in a tear-filled stream
Its love, I know but how can this not pass like river
How can I get it without living death forever
