Now Far Too Slowly Passes Day By Day (Sicilian Sonnet) Poem by Gert Strydom

Now Far Too Slowly Passes Day By Day (Sicilian Sonnet)

Now far too slowly passes day by day
and sleepless in bed you toss and turn
are restless until the morning's sun burn
while to the lock-down we do attention pay.

Day and night I do for you and others pray
while this deadly thing do in the mind churn,
and we wish for a time of normality to return
where still to you this I want to sincerely say:

you are my life, or if you will the essence of it,
the one in my mind, heart and soul and therefore
the one who do perfectly into all of my days fit
the only one who do understand my inner core
who silently changes me to the better bit-by-bit
and sincerely I love and miss you more and more.
