I guess first step is to ascertain
if it's true what I did once entertain.
I've thrown evidence out,
but did not some cards "shout"
your love for me? … Or am I insane?

I think people deserve one another so it seems that it is a big blessing in disguise when things don't work out with a previous partner. Especially when soon after, one meets the love of your life.
