Northumberland Beach Poem by Susy Evelyne

Northumberland Beach

Rating: 5.0

The waves come rolling in and out
And the sky is grey -
With an endless line of horizon clouds.
But somehow I like it that way:
The pearly sky, the oyster sand
And dark, slaty waves
Rolling onto the land.
Yes, I like it that way.

A well written poem that captures a moment and a mood. The poem deserves 10/10. The imagery of a grey sky, 'endless line of horizon clouds', 'dark, slaty waves' that 'come rolling in and out' have been drawn so beautifully that I too 'somehow like it that way'.

Not all days are blue and sunny, and there's nothing wrong with a few clouds. A Grade A grey day you might say.
