Forgiving Poem by Susy Evelyne

Forgiving

Rating: 5.0

I cannot forgive.
I cannot be as the maple tree,
The one they all but cut down
Yet somehow sprang green again.
Marvellously rising above injury.

I cannot forgive.
I cannot be as the moss
On the path - downtrodden
Yet springing back day by day.
Remembering nothing.

I cannot forgive.
I cannot be as the scar on my knee,
born of my own carelessness!
Each year it fades a little more.

Healing, fading, living,
my scar is forgiving.
Yet I cannot forgive - can I?

This is a well written poem. I would love to read a version where the 'cannot's become 'can's.

Of course you can Susy - it's within us all - it just takes a little time to develop the ability.
