My Promise Poem by Nancy Chanthakoun

My Promise

The years between us have not change how we are
Your new life made new beginnings
I have lost what is dear to me
But you are there when tears are shed

Sometimes you are just a sister
But most times, you are my best friend
Secrets told only sisters could share

We’ve made each other proud
We’ve made each other mad
Yelling and bickering only leads to silence
Laughing and jokes lead to more

I will be there for you
When you were there for me
I will support you
Like you did for me

I promise you
Like you promised me
