My Prayer For The New Year Poem by Gert Strydom

My Lord and my God, today is the first day
of another new and unknown year.
I ask that You do consider sparing humanity,
where You do know what waits on every person.
I beg that You act in Your omnipotence,
that You preserve each mortal from danger.
When You speak everything is done and finished,
although some people have no regard for You.
I ask that You do now bring great change,
that this year will be both great and holy,
that You make everything in my life new again.
Even the sparrows outside is not for You insignificant,
there is nothing that can stop Your power and love.
I ask that You touch each one that does love you.
