My Mother's Birthday Poem by Hebert Logerie

My Mother's Birthday

Today is mom's birthday
Please don't talk to her about her age
Because she will not give you an answer
And she won't be as happy as a clam
However, it is a shame or a sham
Because my mom enjoys being together
With friends and family members
To laugh, to dance and to celebrate
With acquaintances and neighbors
My mother, coming from an unusual
Country like ours, is a natural fighter
A kind, tough and resilient survivor
It is fitting to ceremonialize this special
And happy day with mom who will deny
That today is her birthday. And I always laugh
When she behaves in such a fashion. That's mom
Who will try to outsmart anybody. As a kind clam
My mother's heart is very happy to enjoy this blessed day
Yet, if you give her a gift or money for her birthday
I guarantee you that she will gaily keep and hide the money
Mom won't tell her exact number to anybody, even to me
By the way, my mother loves playing the lottery numbers
She is a genius and everything represents some crazy numbers
When it comes to her age, she'll find a way to change the tone
Of the subject or the beat of the current conversation
Anyhow, let's wish my beloved mother: a happy celebration
Good health and longevity on this special and divine occasion.

P.S. Mom is almost 90 or more; you did not hear this number from me.
