My food for thought

This is in response to my poem " children of the world "

I know that no politician would exchange their lives for six months
And live in the slums with the poor and cold.
But dealing with our own poor here in the states should be addressed.
WELFARE -food stamps, wic programs
There are so many people who are getting food stamps and what
Many of them do is sell their food stamps to buy their drugs
Their booze and support their gambling habits , while many of
Our soldiers are living on a measly monthly check to support
Themselves, their spouses and children while many welfare
Recipients are going to the supermarkets and loading up 1-3
Shopping carts of prime steaks, meats and produce of every kind
And we are supporting them.
I believe what needs to be done is open food depots of all this
Millions upon millions of food being discarded because they
Have reached an expiration date, and this is merchandise which
Is vacuum packed in cans (if the cans are not blown up or dented
They are normally still good) vacuum packed meats and cold cuts
That have not lost their seal can still be used.(just do the smell
Test and color test - if it has not changed color and does not have a bad smell it can still be used)
This alone can cut the amount of food stamps they are getting and have
All welfare recipients have a picture I.d. with the amount of family members
Posted so they can not take more food than is needed.
Also put them to work thedepot centers so a trade in the retail
Line is being learned and select the best recipients to monitor the others
While learning supervisory skills.
These skills can be used in any retail field (e.g. walmart, cvs, Walgreens
And so many more.)
We must search out our poor and help them first, because charity
Begins at home, then think about our neighbors and stop the politicians
Who want our money but do not want to change their life styles and
Help out their fellow man.
