Mom And Dad Poem by DEEPAK KUMAR PATTANAYAK

Mom And Dad

Always different from others I felt;
Made for each other as God spelt,
Probably to us God has them sent,
Very young was my dad when I was born,
Charming and handsome he was to look at,
Sometimes, I saw him peeping through,
Curtains, doors and other hidden places,
Lest he might notice me and be curious at
My strange behaviour shown for his charming face,
Sparkling eyes, sparkling teeth,
Nice brow and sharp nose,
All adding to his smiling face,
In this cruel world, for him anger has no place,
As if anger has been buried alive since pre-historic age,
Such a strange and wonderful personality,
To me he had been always,
So also my Mom having same attributes
Not to lag behind my dad’s,
As they are made for each other,

Once my dad was carrying me on a bicycle;
To a far off place in countryside to my school,
Passing through many a rocky, bumpy, jumpy road,
And even through many a curve, fallow and field,
Feeling as if I was going down the hill on a bicycle,
When suddenly we fell off the bicycle,
Injuring both of us very little,
Somewhere I was bleeding my dad could notice,
Let us go dad, we are getting late,
Are you ok, dad asked me?
Let us go dad, I am fine and I was smiling,
You are lying, my son you are lying,
Do you know you are bleeding?
But dad, are you ok,
Tears in your eyes, you are weeping,
What happened dad, something must be wrong,
No, nothing wrong, but dad, you are lying,
See you bleeding brought tears to my eyes,
I can’t see minor injury in you and this bleeding,
Such a horrible thing I can’t stand,
Because I love you so much and so much,
I allow tears stream down my cheeks,
My dad is no more but his memory
Haunts me and moistens my eyes,
Every minute, every second and every day unceasingly..........
