A Poem For A Poem
Brightest amongst stars
Purest amongst mornings
Holiest amongst evenings
But he was the only sun
And he was the only moon
Lighting day and night
In every heart, in every heart
Flowers shedding tears
Trees shedding leaves
Birds stopped singing
Temple bells stopped ringing
Along the path
Between heaven and earth
Amidst the chanting of Ram nam
Not in a day of autumn
But it was a day of spring
That chose his home coming
Toward evening, toward night
After giving his heart to all dissolved unto dust
The sun may perish and the moon wane
But always in our heart you will remain
I have nothing to give you my dear
Only a handful of roses and ocean of tears
Dropping down
Until I see you in heaven
