Merritt Poem by P.J. Lowry

Merritt

I was at a launch party in search of adventure and swill
when something occurred that evening; it was fantastic!
As she strolled into view, both time and space stood still
I was in the presence of greatness within that small attic.

Her name was Merritt but it might as well be Aphrodite,
for she was the fairest woman that I had ever seen
when she sang a cheerful tune, my heart filled with glee
she possesses so much talent that it's almost obscene.

When she spoke to me that night, I could barely breathe
I was honored just to share the same air with this goddess
a shame that I had to go because I didn't want to leave;
I long to see this lady again this poor poet can confess.

She has a stunning beauty that no one could ever forget
blessed is the man who captures the heart of Merritt.
