In Pieces Poem by P.J. Lowry

In Pieces

Rating: 5.0

How can I pick up thy heart
scattered on the floor, in pieces
broken by the one I trusted most
torn by betrayal, lies and lust.

I should have known from the start
how I would end up here, in pieces
scorched is my soul, like a slice of toast
would I ever again be able to trust?

My mind is blank, confused and sore
my very soul is scarred and abused
beliefs long held are shaken to the core
I feel angry, confused and used.

We were to grow old, enjoy our budding creases
now I stand here alone, my heart in pieces.
