Masked Poem by Tarakesh Govardhan

Masked

The mask I wear
cold as steel
why is it that
you never heal

the mask I wear
unchanging face
you never reveal
the hole in my ace

the mask I wear
hidden sight
always protecting
from the eternal blight

the mask I wear
who do you see?
whoever it was
it was never meant to be

the mask I wear
veiled truths
shielding me
from unsightly crooks

the mask I wear
nothing is true
but no matter what
I'm indebted to you
