The Broken Traveller Poem by Tarakesh Govardhan

The Broken Traveller

Broken man wandering the plains
Forever cursed to darkness and pain
Abused and broken, his mind lay shattered
Grown to fit the wills of an overseer, handed on a silver platter

Alone he wanders the deserted plains
Alone he bears the silence in shame
Surrounded by darkness, the never ending sight
Never seen the brightness of light

Years of wandering lead him astray
Confused to who he was, is and would be one day
Discarded his emotions, hating their grasp
To fade love was the last that completed his task

Alone he wanders the desert of pain
Knowing full well what lies ahead to claim
A future filled with the same old task
Running into his last task and tearing himself apart

Desperate now, he is to feel it again
He did whatever needed to be done to lay his claim
But it never once came back
Then he understood where his mistakes had laid track

Shunned himself by himself once again
Contemplated the cowards way out, to escape
But memories once thought lost dawned again
For them he would stay strong, till they came again

But then he met a ray of hope
A glimmer of moonshine that took him afloat
Wiped his thoughts from his mind
Made him enjoy the Thorned desert that he walked on with time

Alone he followed the broken ray
Till the bells of time tolled
Leaving nothing but decay
In remembrance of the lonely heart
A memory of a soul lost in love
