Manuscript 2 Poem by Ahmad Shiddiqi

Manuscript 2

Rating: 5.0

Gates of Ulu Mosque were opened wide
white gown pilgrims were going to Develi Tomb
Genclik Park was built in heartwarming spirit
why Love lay sleeping under Kapuzbasi Waterfall?

Midas City was binding with joys and desires
hundreds of purple roses were bloomed in Guzelyurt Valley
slowly I felt the strong thirteen-fold vision of Catalhoyuk
why Hope fly high above Gormeli Bridge?

butterflies were launched our wishes upon Karagol Lake
silent lions were staring at the chariot in Camkoru Forest
bronze dolphins were swimming quickly on Melendiz River
why Dream hide mysteriously inside Ballica Cave?

Knights of Ottoman Empire were defending in Uchisar Fortress
Princess Jameelah was walking around Kizkalesi Palace
Mevlana Celaleddin Rumi was performing The Whirling Dervishes Dance
why Despair attack suddenly kangals on Erciyes Mountain?

Asik Veysel was recited profane verses in Amasya
Yunus Emre was wrote divine verses in Karaman Museum
Orhan Pamuk was dreamt of freedom in Urgup
why Happiness pour down heavily in Dutlu Kapica?

(dedicated to a poet friend at poemhunter, Nizamettin Esen Haymanali)

i am truly amazed at the places that you speak of, as if you had been to all these places in a past existence. a ten just on the places unknown to so many of us.

Where are these places? Surely Ahmad you're a well traveled man and a historian at that? Surely, these places mentioned in every line of this well crafted piece are gone forever, dissipated and probably part of the ancient manuscript long before Alex the Great was born. I find it strange though, well any way I find this manuscript of yours interesting.
