14h January of every year
“Hurray, hurray, to hear
With kite flying on roof top
The elders and younger may be shouting non stop
Yes this festival is known as “Makar sankrant”*
On this day the sun is tilting towards north
The seasonal change is in offing and brought forth
As the sun may be focusing sharp rays on earth
The cold days may loose sharpness
There will be gradual disappearance of coldness
It has religious significance in many parts
Rivers Ganges may witness holy dips from devotees
Can you believe whole of the state population is witnessing
Millions of people with kites may be participating
Whole of the sky may witness kites, kites and kites
As if challenging the sky with all rights
It is lovely scene with entertainment fervor
Children are up with mood and pleasure
Kites may be cut with skillful show
Colorful kites are kept in readiness to go in sky
* Makarsankrant. Name assigned for 14th January
