Lingering Thoughts Poem by Edwina Reizer

Lingering Thoughts

Rating: 5.0

Lingering thoughts that I might be
still aroused in your reverie
consoles my spirit and my mind
that you somehow still think of me.

When all is quiet and you're alone
do your memories bring a tear?
Or have you completely forgotten
what to me is still so clear?

To know that never will you see
that which meant so much to me
is a dagger to my heart
that makes it come apart.

I must close my mind to what is past
and never think it through.
For the lingering thoughts that have stayed with me
are all I have of you.
