Let Me Sleep Poem by Akhtar Jawad

Let Me Sleep

Rating: 5.0

Please, no more jokes,
I don't want to smile,
How can I smile?
My soul is grieved,
My heart is crying,
I am afraid of future,
When I caress grandchildren,
Worried I think,
Shall they caress like me?
Probability says, may be,
But chances aren't fare.
Let me sleep.

Why are you anxious,
To make me happy,
Happiness comes,
From inside,
And inside me,
Fears are active,
Hope is dormant,
What are we doing?
Heading to disaster,
A manual blunder,
So leave me alone.

I know my dear,
How much you love me!
But you are engaged in,
A futile exercise,
A fatigue in vain,
A wave of pessimism,
Is flowing in me,
I am hopeless,
Indefinite looks,
Future of my children!
How should I behave,
Like a normal man,
I wish I could be,
A care free, insane!

Walls of my house,
Have been cracked,
At any time,
The roof may fell down,
Who will die?
Who will survive?
How many will die?
How many will survive,
Nobody thinks,
Nobody knows.
I wish I could be,
Ignorant like them!

The joint family,
Is disintegrating,
Every member of the family,
Is talking of separation,
Do they mean,
Another tragedy,
Haven't they learn,
Any lesson from the past!
Probably not!
Help us God!
I am fed up of recurrence,
I wish I could be blind!

Oh! Short sightedness,
Your apparent charms,
Have been hypnotizing,
Like an old deadly witch,
Taking showers of fire,
In the ocean of blood,
At least once in a century,
And like a young fairy,
Look appealing to them,
Attracts them all,
In the name of religion,
In the name of nation,
And many other idols,
Make them selfish,
Whenever I speak,
They laugh at me,
I wish I could be dumb!

Oh! Dracula of wars,
How sharp are your teeth!
You are fond of blood,
Could I kill You!
Could I save the descendants!
From death and destruction, ,
Not a few hundreds,
Not a few thousands,
The figure this time,
Will be in millions!
I am dejected,
I'm frustrated,
How can I live?
Let me die!

If you can't bring poison,
Give me the pain killer,
Or sleeping pills,
To keep me alive,
For more headaches,
And many other pains,
Good night to you,
Let me sleep!

COMMENTS OF THE POEM

The pouring down of frustrated thoughts and the deluge of longings and emotions make this poem an outstanding piece! A man who has seen enough of fair life is worried at the phase of change the world now takes and wishes to exit out from this world! I give it a10 (But if he is given a red rose, I am sure he will go dancing round his beloved, musing..... 'How sweet this world.... let us drink from this cup of joy...'! ! !)

I am afraid of future, my soul is crying because everywhere there is stress and tension. Let me sleep because only sleep is equal and peaceful to all human beings and all creatures. During sleep only they do not feel the difference between them forget every external thing of this material world. Sleep is equally felt pleasantness for all creatures. Well described the present situation of a person and his search for peace through let me sleep. Excellent work.

When you sleep you rest with a heart so content having done what you had set out to for the day. Having given your love and the best you could you then want to rest. A beautiful write. I enjoyed it. Thank you for all your poems!
