Leaving Children Without Poem by RoseAnn V. Shawiak

Leaving Children Without

Sitting inside a Subway, watching people come and go while
eating a tuna sub, some people walking with confidence and
self-esteem.

Others dressed in rags, head bowed down, eyes averted, show-
ing everyone how they really feel without even talking, at
times overhearing conversations between friends and couples.

Most self-divulging, yet some hearts showing through, wanting
to help in any way possible; this poet thinking, wondering how
equality got so bent out of shape in our society.

It seems that one parent homes, mostly single mothers, hav-
ing no time for such all important things, leaving their
children to fend for themselves.

Children, younger and younger getting addicted to drugs,
alcohol and sex, having to look no further for answers
regarding our children and why society is so messed up today.
