Lady Poem by Ronald Brissette

Lady

Break loose the river of life
Let me see past the lonely yesterdays.
I am drowning in my tears
But yet-I thirst for love
Sweet, tender love

I fear the lady-oh-lovely lady
Has vanished from the woman
Like the rib from man
Then said-catch me
If you can

The virgin die’s young
Without A lady to say
“Wait for another day”.

Cupid, where lost your arrows?
Flowers don’t bloom for lovers anymore
All taken by the graves of the dead
Painted colorless by my illusion of
Sweet, tender love

What green paper lies upon your hand?
What man will give you the eye?
When a dress becomes an antique
While hair grows upon your chest
Suckled by none-none.

The lady is dead thru the passing of time.
Flowers grow under bridges
To be picked by no one-no one.

Life is no longer real
I who loved the lady
Must dance with old memories
Holding flowers of yesterday
For my sweet dreams-every lasting love.
I lay them all to rest.

My mother’s womb filled too soon
I was meant to come from a cocoon.
The glory of the moth fur filled in one night
Drinking in silvery rays of moon light
Dawn brings it all to an end
Of a one night stand.

Where is my dawn?
Why was I misplaced in time?
My soul seeks wings of its own
I cry
Why can’t I die?
