Alone Poem by Ronald Brissette

Alone

Endless waves beat against the rocky shore
Painting the shore line with effervescent foam
Misty cold, creeping waves, lunging endlessly forward
Never ending and never left alone.

Painted creatures glow in the city night
Hiding behind burned out street lights
No one cares about their wares
They’ll never be left alone.

Fluffy white clouds dance in the sky
A gentle breeze giving puppy dog licks
To little boys flying their kits
They’ll never be left alone.

A man runs one step ahead of the dead
Pulsating wave grab at his feet, so cold
Looking up for a ray of light
He only sees the stars of the night.

His steps now slowing, it is snowing
All is still
As he watched death passing him by
Echoed sound “You will never die,
And you will be left alone.”
