Just Like That Poem by Galeigh Parkin

Just Like That

Daddy took his fishing pole
Then sat down by the sea
He yelled, 'hey come on over here'
Sit beside of me!

The wind was blowin wild
Away, blew his old straw hat
Whirling down the beach, it disappeared -
'Just like that'

I told my grandpaw what took place
His lips smiled, and began to quiver
(What he laughed about, made his teeth fall out)
Plunging downward, they sank in the river -
'Just like that'

When he raised his eyes to the blackened skies
He scared his dog, and a cat
The cat barked like dog, and the dog, meowed like cat
Shazam! (they both disappeared) -
'Just like that'

There came a day, (while I was musing away)
I wondered, what happens when things go astray?
Where do they go, and what do they do?
When suddenly, objects vanish from view

Someday, I will go seeking
To see if I can find
Some of the things I'm missing
Or perhaps, (I just left behind)

I'm sure a day will come, when I hear of some
'Voodoo Method' (which I've always feared)
That mysterious black magic, won't seem so tragic
When all that was mising has 'just re-appeared' -
'Just like that' (That's weird!)
