It Will Be Alright, Sweet Child Poem by Jemmima Hayes

It Will Be Alright, Sweet Child

You sit there,
No-one see’s behind your lies,
It’s heartbreaking really,
Heartbreaking how you lie to those you claim to love,
It’s a sad story really,
If only someone had bothered to care,

Don’t cry sweet child,
I know it’s hard,
But I see the pain in your eyes; they made you so cold,
How could they be so cruel?
Don’t cry sweet child,
Everything will turn out alright,

Can’t you see the light, hear the angels sing?
This rain is only a temporary thing,
I know you think it’s over,
But the sun doesn't stay hidden for long,
Don’t worry, baby sister,
It’s all going to be alright,

I wish I was there, little sister,
To wipe away your tears,
I know you think I don’t care, that I've forgotten,
How wrong you are, silly child,
I’m always watching,
Did I ever tell you how proud I was little sister; you've come so far,

Don’t listen to their mean words,
They don’t understand your pain; they think they’re so smart,
But they’re just playing a childish game,
It’s okay, sweet girl,
You can cry, it doesn't make you weak,
Oh, little sister, how they've broken you!

I wish I was down there, little sister,
To hold you in my arms,
To tell you it will be alright,
I miss you little sister, maybe we’ll meet again someday.
