Even Angels Fall Poem by Jemmima Hayes

Even Angels Fall

Rating: 5.0

He looks at me like he knows all my secrets,
Those mysterious inky eyes staring into my very soul,
The words he whispers,
So tantalizingly sweet, the promise of eternity,
I’m frozen,
The allure of darkness irresistible,

How you are fallen from heaven,
O Day Star, son of Dawn!
How you are cut down to the ground,
You who laid the nations low!

My heart beats, so fast – erratic!
Am I so wrong to find comfort in darkness?
When the light is waning, disappearing within my grasp,
For God knows even Angel’s fall,

It is beautiful, this lonely darkness,
With eyes like encrusted onyx jewels,
Like a black hole,
They steal from us everything good; we shall mourn those we lose,
But we don’t cry for long because,
War is always on the horizon,

And no wonder,
For even Satan disguises himself as an angel of light,

Can’t you see?
See how you are being played,
Darkness is beautiful, but when there is light,
What can it give us but pain?
