In my childhood days,
I used to see my dad come back from work
In the evening, and relax after having a wash.
Reclining on an easy chair in the courtyard,
He used to call me
And introduce me to the inhabitants
Of the clear, open sky above-
The stars, the constellations,
The Orion, the Great Bear, the Pole Star.
I developed this habit of gazing at the night sky
Since my childhood, and the habit remained
All along, till today.
A time came when I grew up as a young man.
At that time, when I looked up at the sky
And tried to find those heavenly bodies,
I used to see not the stars and the constellations
But a pretty face that used to come out of a little star
And gradually cover the whole sky!
Today, when I gaze at the night sky, in solitude,
I find not one,
But many, many of the faces that once loved me,
Those that I loved too,
Those that are no more here,
Smile at me peeping out from the little stars,
Beckoning at me with the same loving eyes!
As they sleep in the heavens, their souls appear;
Some shine, some twinkle, from the canopy afar!

A touching poem so full of emotion. I loved the narration how your father taught you to look at the sky and the stars. True, the departed souls are stars that shine and guide us in our path. Beautiful poem that shines like a star, ......10

Let me quote from this amazing poem- - Today, when I gaze at the night sky, in solitude, I find not one, But many, many of the faces that once loved me, Those that I loved too, Those that are no more here, Smile at me peeping out from the little stars, Beckoning at me with the same loving eyes!
