In the last moments before Shabbat
I pray for the quiet and peace of that day
I pray for a calm and holy happiness
I pray for real rest free of the turmoil of the everyday
I pray for a true Shabbat in prayer and learning with others

I would like to translate this poem
Prayer - which is attitude of mind and a readiness of soul - achieves in this poem what it meant to be but does always achieve, namely, a moment out of time when everything you hope for is present and that present moment is spread into every space you will occupy from now on. It makes almost believe there were angels present when you wrote this poem.
