In The Eye Of The Storm Poem by Alexander Thomas

In The Eye Of The Storm

Rating: 4.0

Behold the power!
Bend down and cower!
Twisting and tearing through it will devour you,
The rain splashing, thrashing and lashing,
The wind bashing and smashing with lightning flashing,
All around crashing!
The almighty storm shapeless and without form,
Fiercely pounding, chaos abounding, the roar resounding,
All surrounding, astounding but confounding,
Relentlessly hounding!
Eaten and chewed; swallowed and spewed,
Spun round and scattered; beaten and battered,
Everything destroyed and abandoned in a void,
Heartfelt cries fall on deaf ears,
By the blasting barrage muted,
Confronting all fears,
Pulled apart and uprooted,
From the ground ripped,
Distantly thrown,
By anxiety gripped,
Isolated and alone,

Nothing left

… A wreck.

Being in the 'eye of a storm' may also refer, figuratively, to being 'at the center of or deeply involved in an especially difficult, stressful, or hectic situation or period of time.'

Literally: 'The eye of a storm is a roughly circular area, typically 30-65 kilometers (19-40 miles) in diameter. It is surrounded by the eyewall, a ring of towering thunderstorms where the most severe weather and highest winds occur. '
