In English We Say Poem by Randy McClave

In English We Say

In English we say, "I will miss you"
Then we close our eyes and we say no more,
In poetry we say, "Without you"
"There is a hollow space inside me that will never again roar".

In English we say, "You! I still love"
And in poetry we say, "I cannot find a way",
"To untangle my heart from yours as we once was"
"So, for you I will always pray".

In English we say, "I'm sorry! "
But, in poetry we say, "I bleed for the pain",
"I still remember that night so calm and starry"
"Now your wounds are now my own to gain".

In English we say, "We can fix this! "
In poetry we say, "How do I glue pieces back together? "
"Everything broke was once repaired with a kiss"
"Now it is gone forever."

In English, "We say I'm not sure this can be fixed"
In poetry we say, "It only takes one hole to sink a mighty ship",
"And now what we only have is conflict"
"The tear now has became a large rip".

In English we just say, "Goodbye"
And then with only one tear we might cry,
But, in poetry we will always say
"In my heart for the rest of my life I will keep you tucked away."
