I Swear To God You Missed It Poem by Sherri Vogel

I Swear To God You Missed It

I hear you've been looking up my number
Don't bother it's unlisted
If you ever had a chance with me
I swear to God you missed it.
There may have been a moment
I wanted you as mine
But the disconnected number
Means I've gotten on just fine.
There's no need to wonder
Or question how I've been
The reason it's unlisted
Is so we don't talk again.
So do us both a favor
Don't try and get in touch
I like it when the telephone
Doesn't ring that much.
You never made an effort
Or seemed to care at all
So why on earth now
Would I want you to call.
Just hang up the phone
The number is unlisted
If you ever had a chance with me
'I Swear To God You Missed It.'

Awesome. A very powerful poem that vividly captures the No Way Back scenario. It's almost like reading a novel!
