I Had A Thought

I had a thought when I awoke this morn
but somehow it slipped away.
Where it went to elude my pen
is difficult to say.

I know when I least expect it
the thought will surface again.
When it does I'll capture it.
And do whatever I can

to get it on a piece of paper
before it leaves my mind.
Then I can get on with a new thought
and leave this one behind.
